    About Us

Atlas Folk Trimmed

We are a small batch, pro-local, skeptical yet faith-pursuing collection of misfits.

Come join us at 10am on Sundays.

Atlas began in 2006 with a desire to show Jesus to the culture along 16th street. We met in borrowed buildings and backyards and started to discover what it meant to really be family.

In 2007, we threw our first Block Party with a couple dozen bands for a couple thousand friends.

In 2008, we purchased the Atlas Theater on 16th Street. We knew we needed this building in order to create a venue for charity balls, concerts, art exhibits, poker tournaments, wedding celebrations, and our Sunday gatherings.

In 2009, we survived without heat in February or AC in July, and we  began to transform the interior of the Atlas theater (formerly a garage) into a space that we and our friends would encounter God.

In 2010, Atlas began also meeting in the morning, and started PING for our kids.

In 2011, we began Atlas.City, with a mind for throwing the best possible events, with the best possible art, photography, word and music, to celebrate our incredible God.

In 2012, we raised thousands of dollars for COPI in Vietnam and Luz de Esperanza orphanage in Peru, and we opened our doors to the John Galt Coffee Company.

In 2013, we started created atmosphere for all those under 20 to encounter Christ in ways that are meaningful to them at their age.

In 2014, we restarted Atlas at Night for those in our community who work Sundays (or simply can;t get up by 10.)

We celebrate and affirm the great creeds of historic Christianity, an example of which would be the Nicene Creed below.

We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible.

And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, begotten of the Father before all worlds; God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God; begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father, by whom all things were made.

Who, for us men and for our salvation, came down from heaven, and was incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the virgin Mary, and was made man; and was crucified also for us under Pontius Pilate; He suffered and was buried; and the third day He rose again, according to the Scriptures; and ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of the Father; and He shall come again, with glory, to judge the quick and the dead; whose kingdom shall have no end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and Giver of Life; who proceeds from the Father and the Son; who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified; who spoke by the prophets.

And we believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the remission of sins; and we look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come.

It’s hard to say what Atlas is
or why you might want to give church a chance
even if you have been burned out, hurt or angry with church in the past
But here might be a good place to start:
If you have 12 minutes to spare,
Listen to Josh’s story from March, 2014.
